Listen

This is your card reading for Friday, October 21st/16.  Your card today shot out out of the 'Spirit Messages' oracle deck authored by John Holland.  Your card is 'Listen', and John's message for the card is this:
"You have to be willing to listen if you want to really understand someone.  Now is not the time to be offering advice, but to be a compassionate listener.  To listen fully and intently means to pay attention, not just to what's being said, but to what lies beneath the words. 
We've heard and listened to your requests in the past, so we're bringing this card to you because someone around you needs to be heard now! They're not seeking advice, but they really need to express themselves about how they're feeling and what's going on in their life. What they're seeking is an open, compassionate and non-judgmental listener.
When you're intently engaged in conversation, there's an even energy exchange where both parties can benefit. Those who are talking express what they're feeling, and just by the process of talking, they will often solve the problem or issue by themselves.  Being present and listening to someone who needs your full attention will, in some cases, bring you the answers that you've been seeking for yourself."

My message for you today is this:
Perhaps there is indeed someone in your life at this time who needs to have you take on the role of compassionate listener for them.  Or perhaps you require this of someone in your life at this time.  I love this quote, and it is so applicable to your message today:

Your message today may also be in reference to your current need to place yourself in a state of active 'listening' in order to receive the messages that Spirit is striving to bring to you at this time.  As we are in the energy peak of the annual Orionids Meteor Shower, the veil is thin, and you are more readily able to access and receive messages from your Spiritual Advisors; including your Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels.  Take advantage of these energies and consciously LISTEN.  
The psychic sense of clairaudience (meaning 'clear hearing') can manifest in a variety of ways to bring us messages from Spirit.  Some ways to receive messages through clairaudience are:
~Hearing a song, or part of a song repeatedly, either on the tv or radio or 'in your head', or seeing the lyrics presented somehow.  Whenever the lyrics to the song, "I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck..." run through my mind, I know it is my deceased Mom making her presence known to me.  This is a song that she sang to me as a child, and also to her grandchildren. Once, when I was in deep distress after receiving a phone call with upsetting news from my son, I walked into a home decor store which was FILLED to the rafters with decor.  Yet, what instantly drew my attention when I walked in the doors was a sign that read, "I love you a bushel & a peck & a hug around the neck"!  I KNEW that that was my Mom letting me know that everything would be ok, in the way that only a Mom can...and I bought that sign then and there, while giving silent thanks to my Mom for the gift of that message from her, when I most needed it!
~Overhearing a conversation between people who are strangers to you, and yet it feels as though what they are saying is exactly what you needed to hear. (This often happens when you are waiting in check-out lines, or are on public transit, etc.)
~When you 'randomly' turn on the tv or radio and the words being said 'speak' to you in regards to something you have been asking for guidance about.  You have the feeling of, 
'I really needed to hear that right now!'
~The phone or doorbell ring, and 'no one' is there.  This happens occasionally at our home on the farm, and our family always responds with "Hi Opa!"  My husband's Dad always loved to play a specialty horn he had installed in his vehicle to announce his arrival whenever he came over; so we just 'know' that Opa now uses the phone and doorbell in our home to make his presence known to us when he 'visits'.  (We have a very long driveway and there is NO WAY that someone could ring the doorbell and then make it out of the yard before we get to the door!)
~Ringing in your ear. This can serve as confirmation...if your ear rings while you are receiving guidance, it is confirmation that you ARE meant to 'hear' this guidance.  Ringing in your ear may also be incoming messages from the higher vibration of Spirit.  Don't get caught up in 'decyphering' what the ringing means; but rather give thanks for the incoming message and know that it will 'come to you' later, often in the form of an 'aha' moment! 
These are but a few ways in which to receive messages from Spirit through 'listening'.  
You are being advised--in whatever capacity applies to you in your life at this moment--to be an ACTIVE LISTENER.  Pay attention: be RECEPTIVE, rather than EXPRESSIVE at this time.
